Auto-renewal is marketed as convenience. And it is convenient, mostly for the insurer, who keeps your business without competing for it.
What auto-renew skips
- Price comparison. A dozen insurers would love to quote your car. Auto-renew asks none of them.
- Coverage check. Your life changes, new commute, new area, car getting older. Your coverage should be reviewed yearly, not photocopied.
- Sum Insured update. Your car's market value drops every year. If your Sum Insured isn't adjusted, you may be paying premium on value the insurer will never pay out.
- Add-on review. Flood cover, windscreen, e-hailing use, needs change. Auto-renew doesn't ask.
Before you renew, check these:
- Your car's current market value (and set Sum Insured to match)
- Your NCD entitlement, is the full discount applied?
- Your coverage type, still the right fit for the car's age and value?
- At least 2β3 quotes from different insurers
Sounds like homework? It's literally our job. Send one WhatsApp message with your car details and we do all four, in about 5 minutes, free.
π‘ Atur tip: the best time to compare is 1β2 months before expiry. You keep all your options and there's zero risk of driving uninsured while deciding.
Confused? Don't be, just ask us. Free, no obligation.
